The New Jewish Filmmaking Project (NJFP)
"An inspiring collaboration."
-SF Bay Guardian

The NJFP, produced by Citizen Film, is a program of the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival. NJFP films look at cultural diversity in the Jewish community from the point of view of Jewish teenagers, many of whom come from immigrant and/or mixed ethnic backgrounds.

Teenagers spend more than a year challenging one another to consider the meaning and relevance of Jewish identity in their own lives and work with us to tell their own stories from their own point of view. They turn the camera on themselves, their schools, homes and hang outs to take us on an intimate journey through shifting emotional and cultural landscapes.

The resulting high quality independent films provide a rare, authentic point of view on what it's like to come of age at the current complex juncture in American-Jewish history and culture.

Hundreds of thousands of viewers have seen NJFP work, presented by exhibitors ranging from PBS affiliates to community arts centers; and from top film festivals (we received a Golden Gate Award at the 2004 San Francisco International Film Festival) to high school teachers nationwide.
